We have been on the Elation twice, and she is by far our favorite ship (so far). The decor is quite lovely. Your Cruise Director should be Jorge, who is fantastically funny and entertaining! He truly is the best CD we have encountered. You will ache from laughing.
We really enjoy the dinners in the dining room (as opposed to the buffet/pizza/burgers, etc). It is a lot of fun for us to be waited on and pampered. If you get in the Imagination dining room (we had the 6:15 seating), you are in for a TREAT! Jean-Pierre, the maitre'd, will entertain you each evening by singing a Frank Sinatra song... and he is very good! This was the first time we tipped the Maitre'd.
The days at sea are filled with activity. Be sure to read through the Capers newsletter you will get each day, and try EVERYTHING! Play the games, see the shows, try new frozen drink thingies... Just let yourself have FUN. Don't just stay in your room.
You will have one Formal night in the dining room, so bring something a little dressy (or WAY dressy). What deck are you on?

Since we have never gone and we had no clue I left it up to Carnival. She upgraded us to the upper deck. Like I said, this is our first and we are excited. My wife wanted to do a 4day just to see if we would like cruising. If so then on to a 7day. We are in our early 40 so I hope we are not overcome by teens. I have always heard carnival is a party boat so we should go RCCL?

I have not been on RCCL, so I cannot compare, but I don't think March 30 is a spring break or holiday, so you should not be overrun by teens. We are in mid-40's and thoroughly enjoyed the Jan 28 sailing. There were not many youngsters running around.
We were on the Upper deck in 2003 (U201), on a 7-day, and it was great.
You will have a great time!!!

I have already told my wife that if we like this and I think we will that I want to book the 7day on the conquest to Jamica, Cayman Islands and Cozumel. I really think that this will be the first of many. The only downfall is driving from OKC, OK.

My hubbie and I are going on our 1st cruise from Galveston on 3-30-06 on Ecstacy/Elation 4 night cruise to Calica/playa. Is that the same cruise? We are very excited about this adventure. It is an early 50th birthday celebration for me. We are driving from San Antonio. We got the cheapest room -we don't plan to be in our room much. We love to gamble and dance. We hope to have a great time.

First, you will love it, and get very addicted to cruising.

Second, 4 days is way too short, but that is how I started too.

We are on the Elation for 7 day Eastern Carib in Sept, so I am glad to hear the Elation is so much fun. I have to comment on the maitre'd. I also never tipped or actually even noticed the maitre'd before the Pride cruise, and now I will pay attention. He was so HOT and so nice. I will pay attention now!!!

Well I agree that it is probably to short. A friend of mine said after 1 hour on the boat that we wished we would have booked a 7 day. Oh well next cruise.
