I haven't been to Galveston since I was a kid (long time ago!) What would be fun to do Sunday afternoon through Monday morning before we get on the ship? lisa

We were there in June. We also arrived a day early and stayed in a hotel in Houston. We went to Galveston for the day on Sunday and spent it at Stewart Beach. You can't miss it if you stay on the main strip to the ocean front. It cost $7.00 to get in and has showers, food, chairs/umbrellas(to rent). You can also take a trolley tour of the downtown area or walked around "The Strand". Its right by the terminal. The food is good and also try going down where the terminal is the day before. It helps to get to know the area and we got to see the "Rhapsody of the Seas" docked there. Lots to do.

Thanks, y'all. I thought about Moody Gardens, but didn't want to spend that much money for the amount of time we'll be there. We may try the beach. lisa

That is what we plan to do, the beach, then maybe a ride on the ferry, hopefully we will see some dolphins!

I should have mentioned that the cost to Stewart Beach is $7.00 a car not per person. I believe there are free beaches on the island but we always go to Stewart Beach. They have all the necessaties we need. We pack our own drinks and then do an early dinner.

we stayed in Galveston prior to our feb cruise, we stayed at the Stacia Leigh, it was way cooler than a hotel, a bed and breakfast on a old sailing schooner, on the water right next to the cruise ship terminal, with free parking for your cruise. sorry no kids
check out their web sight
have fun
