Was wondering if any of you would like to play some games like dominos, spades, hearts etc on quiet days at sea or in port. I was thinking abt tossing in the dominos then after cruise leave to room steward.

Had a good try on of clothes --now to get everything ready to go in suitcase.

What type oif fun things are you considering to do beside excursions on this cruise.?

That sounds like fun Maw. I'm sure there will be some who want to play ( cards that is.) Oscar and I used to play 42 a lot. I do spades on the computer ( it usually wins!)

I have to admit susie I may need to count my boxes with two great grands who loved cominos not sure they are complete. If you want to put yours in that would be alright Susie.

Anne not sure what 42 is? I may know it by another name.

Looks like we can look forward to some game bonding.

We like dominoes, and play "Mexican trains"

and we also like cards and play "Hand and Foot" and "George"

Both games were taught to us by the Florida parents, and we have passed it on to a few of our friends over the years. Got Jack and Honey hooked:biggrin:

Red - T and I have been playing Hands and Feet for years, we'll have to compare the East and West coast versions. Occasionally we have played with folks who have slightly different rules such as draw three cards not two, and rules pertaining to buying the stack, point values of cards etc. Should be fun!

Barbara, we play the 'draw two cards" version, and never bought a stack etc.

Yes, it will be very interesting to compare.

Have you ever played "George"?

Hmm, the name sounds familiar but it didn't ring a bell with Tobyn and he has the better memory. You'll have to show us... if nothing else we are quick learners.

A good game for groups where the number of players can vary is one called Help Your Neighbor, easy, no thinking, good for when beers/drinks are flowing :cheer: Ooh, Tobyn just reminded me it takes pennies too... I'll have to see the luggage weight first. You take the aces, kings, and sevens out of a deck and deal all cards face up. Then you take turns rolling the dice to roll the face value of the cards in front of you. If you don't have the particular number you can 'help your neighbor' and if they have that number they can flip it over... especially nice when you roll double ones but don't have a two but your neighbor does! The pennies are needed for rolling sevens, since there are none in play you must pay the pot. Obviously ,first person to turn over all their cards wins. Very sociable game, like I said, no thinking or strategy involved. Tobyn said instead of pennies we can take a swig of our drink. That would make for an interesting afternoon!

Another quick and simple game is called 99. Everyone is dealt 3 cards. and then U begin. The cards have point values and each player when its their turn plays a card and draws a card and the stack increases in value from the card they added. As its a quick game U best be alert as its been witnessed more than once that folks have forgotten to draw a card and therefore have only 2 cards to play. If one runs out of cards they are out of the game.

Once the stack gets to a point where a player can NOT play a card without exceeding 99 then they drop out of the game. Obviously the last player in the game WINS. There are also certain cards that are what I will call HIGHLIGHT cards. Such as if U play a 9 it automatically takes the stack count to 99. A 10 subtract 10 from the stack. A 7 reverses the direction of the game. And I believe an 8 means that the count stays the same for the stack. Nice thing is its a fairly quick game and if U are out of the game it gives U a chance to go the the bathroom, get a refreshment, or take a dip in the pool. :boogie:

Maw I think we played 99 at the lake. Jim & I have learned to play hand and foot, of an evening at the lake a group of us get to gather in camp ground, drink margaritas and play. You would all have fun with either!

Have you ever played Farkle? It is a dice game. I LOVE to play games. This requires 6 dice. Go to the $ store and buy 2 packs! You can google and print the instructions/rules. You can buy the game for about $20 at the store, but all you need is dice and paper and pen! It is a lot of fun. I still love the card game Crazy 8's.
