I am so far behind! I usually start in September, and do it just a little at a time. I am always done by Turkey Day, and laugh at those who brave the stores, parking lots and lines after Black Friday.

But this year I decided to wait until a more reasonable time, but I couldn't wait any longer, so after a not-quite hearty breakfast banana, I was out the door and on the road. I didn't even get to read the paper!

Didn't get a whole lot done... something for DH, something for me, something for my sister, and something for me, something for my niece and 2 nephews, and oh yeah, something for me. LOL! (one of those somethings for me was a sandwich!)

Anyone else start shopping yet???

I'm just back from Toys R Us with Ben's Christmas shopping done. I won't go anywhere near that store after about the 10th of November!

I have a few things but not nearly enough done. That is one of my plans for this weekend. Cyco can you believe my daughter and I were there Christmas Eve day last year, the store wasn't really crowded and we got some great last minute deals. :lol

I am about 2/3 finished. I did a lot of internet shopping again this year.....and got a few great bargains. Today I scored some great grandpet toys at Wal-Mart.

Judy, Allow me to tell you about our Toys R US. There is ONE Toys R Us store in the Des Moines metro area. Of the approximately 3 million people in the state of Iowa, slightly more than 500,000 live in the DM area. That doesn't include all of the small towners who come to the "city" to do their shopping. You do the math! :) Your odds are likely much better in Denver or Boston!

:lol I bet your's is much busier. I was actually at a store in the suburbs close to where my daughter lives in MA. It was busier though up until that day, we had been there the day before, it was just late on Christmas Eve only us nuts were still out shopping. :lol

Christmas will not be the same here. Since I am sure it will be spent in a hospital room, I am decorating tomorrow so that Elliott can at least have a week of the pretty decorations. Not sure I will put up the tree though as we won't be home and I don't need the cats attacking it. He has already gotten his big gifts and Dan and I are not exchanging this year. I do have a wish for people whom are financially well off..consider dropping a gift or two off at your local children's hospital. I have a feeling you and a child will be happier for it.

SunFlower made me drag all the Christmas decorations into the downstairs guest bedroom. 20 large tubs, 4 Christmas trees, somewhere around 40 strings of lights (and a half gallon bag of replacement mini-bulbs), enough miniture village buildings to rebuild Chicago after the fire, and 12 boxes of "I don't know what". And there's still stuff in the basement and the shed!

Oh, AND the inflatable snow globe, Santa Claus, snowman and penguin, five lighted, wire-frame reindeer and 15 lighted, spiral christmas trees and an illuminated Christmas card for the yard!

I was at a local mall yesterday and was surprised to see that they had all their xmas decorations up. I don't start as early as in the past when I'd have to send my brother's family gifts to micronesia. Now both sides of the family do a grab bag gift exchange - Roy's side will be a generic gift, my side we'll draw names. I still have my sons, dil, and grand kids to buy for - better get started :lol

I am all done but for John and wrapped, cause I do so much decorating and baking in Nov and Dec. Cindy my heart goes out to you,I wish I lived closer,I always go to the nursing homes around here and sing for them, and John fixes TVs for older people he sees needs them for Christmas and I also give out dozens of cookies and bars to neigborhood and friends,is Eliott into Transformers, know I am going to get John one,I could send it. I will be giving all the stuff I bought for Julia Rose the 1 year old daughter of Abes ex girlfriend to Toys R Tots unfornately, guess I know better to buy so early for someone that might not be around for the holidays. Happy shopping to all of you,it is fun even if it is hectic.

DH & I don't exchange anymore. Have no grandkids only furbabies. Try to get something for DS & DIL. The rest of the family does not want to exchange gifts. The preference is for a family dinner, lots of mimosas, and movies. I usually try to get a little something for everyone, even if it is a bottle of lotion or a gift card to a local store. Sure saves on the wallet when you don't have to buy a lot of gifts. Also, we do get toys to drop off at the local fire station. With all the furbabies we don't put out a lot of decorations as they would be all over the house.
we put up a few outside lights but we do try to conserve energy even during the holidays.

We don't do much around here anymore. Kid & grands live across the country
so it is best to just send a check. I am considering taking them on a cruise again with some inheritance money that is filtering in.

One of DH's sisters insists on having a Xmas eve get together and the other one claims Xmas day. We will go to the eve one but don't feel like a 2 hour drive each way to see the same group the next day. It's about the only time except Thanksgiving we actually see any of them.

My sister will be having Xmas at her house and she is welcome to it. Her kids & grands are within driving distance.
Xmas is really getting depressing without my kid & her family. I don't think I will even bother decorating again this year.

Way ahead of me - - haven't done a thing and not sure what I am going to do. Hope to get something for my parents while we are there for Thanksgiving and that just may be it for me! lol

I am expecting my Christmas saving check next week and will hold it until the week of Thanksgiving. DH and I are those idiots that go out at 5;00 a.m. to get all the day after Thanksgiving sales. Hubby takes the lists from the kids and determines what we need from the sale papers. Helps so much being married to a professor, he is so organized. We visit my mother in Indiana and catch all the sales.

This is a wonderful idea. I might add that many hospitals (including ours) requests that the gifts are donated unwrapped, so they can match it up with a child of the appropriate age and gender. Thank you for posting this, Cindy. :thumb

Since we skipped Christmas last year by running away to St. John USVI we are already shopping and ordering for this Christmas now. I have a nice little stash in one of the spare bedroom closets and I have two orders that s/b delivered this week.

I am also ready to decorate as we didn't last year, never brought one item down from the attic. But I won't decorate until the 2nd week of December. That is my rule. :)

I've bought a few things but no where near close to being done. I don't know what the kids want yet. =shrug I just put away the halloween and pulled out the thanksgiving decorations. I decorate all 3 holidays as I enjoy each one. No Christmas stuff out for a few weeks here.
