Hi new here and new to crusing. Our sons got hubby and me tickets to go with them and their families on our first cruise. I guess if the Gem survives her maiden voyage in October, we'll be all set for April! I'm very excited about our cruise and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as the cruise gets closer. We will be traveling with 7 kids ages 10-16 and 6 adults. Any tips for traveling with the kids? Thanks for any and all input.

Congrats on planning your first cruise. I think, from what we have all heard you will love the Gem.

The kids are great ages for cruising, there will be somthing for them to do most of the time and freestyle is ideal with families, especially those ages, the kids can eat where and when they want and you can do the same.

I would suggest you try and make contact other families before you even cruise. This way maybe the kids will have some built in friends as soon as they board. Just an idea.

Have a great time.

Kids are usually not a problem on board - there's so much for them to do it's really great. Basketball, bowling on the Gem!, movies, pools - they make friends easily.

Relax and enjoy! I sail on the GEM in January! My 5th cruise - love it! 3rd time on NCL - Dawn, Sun and now the Gem. Like sailing from NYC - hate that plane ride to Florida!

I'll post after the cruise and let you know how it was!
