Soooo, we got back from Orlando early Monday morning and I have had 102 temp, coughing up stuff & pounding headache since. Only today at 3pm, am I starting to feel semi-human again. We had a great week at the parks and Tori enjoyed her B-day at Disney, dinner with characters. At least I got sick on the way home and not on the way there. We always wipe everything down with antibacterial wipes and never use the bathroom on board and it still caught me! Next time I board a plane I may pull the old Micheal Jackson with the surgical mask! UUgh, I feel like crap................

I use Airborne every time I get on a plane. DH travels so much I think he is immune to most everything by now. Either that or the yearly flu shots work.

Don't use the bathroom onboard? Wow I'd burst. I at least use the one that comes with the cabin.

In Asia (especially Japan) it is not at all uncommon to see people wearing surgical masks while doing normal activities. Figure it's only a matter of time before we start seeing it more and more over here.

You know I used to think the same way but then I read somewhere that most of the time you aren't getting sick from the airplane. The germs need time to grow in your body before you start to feel the effects. Sometimes as much as 1-2 weeks. While it is possible you caught the germs on the airplane to start your vacation I'm a bit skeptical to say you caught them on the way back... but then again who really knows, just something to think about.

Calgon, I do see them in the Asian areas around here. You'd think we would be courtious and smart enough to do likewise.

Now I have an uncontrollable urge to sneeze on someone.

Rubysky, I meant to say the bathrooms on the airplane. :lol :lol

That sneeze comment was funny, first time I've laughed in days. Thanks.

Every time I fly I am sick within a week. I am now on a drug which has my immune system diminished greatly. And I'm supposed to fly home next month and I'm really trying to decide whether to take the chance.

Feel better Jim. Maybe Micky Mouse got too close to you! :grin

You don't have to touch anything on a plane to get sick. It's a closed air system on board, so if someone sneezes, you get to breath it in! Yippie! Airborne is a great idea if you fly, I would do it for sure!

BostonJ, go ahead and fly. Take Airborne and wear a mask. I see people around here to it, mostly in Berkeley. It's actually a pretty smart thing to do.

This from UNDERSTANDING THE COMMON COLD:

"From the time a cold virus enters the nose, it takes 8-12 hours for the viral reproductive cycle to be completed and for new cold virus to be released in nasal secretions. This interval is called the incubation period.

Cold symptoms can also begin shortly after virus is first produced in the nose (10-12 hours). The time from the beginning of the infection to the peak of symptoms is typically 36-72 hours."
