getting a price and cabin that you want

Just thought I would share some info....

I looked up the cheapest fare on several of the online websites for a Glory cruise this fall. I wanted a balcony room in a unique location on the ship. I called Carnival for a quote and they matched the lowest fare I had found AND upgraded me 3 categories. Apparently Carnival is one of the few (if only) line that does its own booking. Keep this in mind when booking. Also make sure you have some maps of the decks available when you call....travelocity makes it very easy to download all of the decks with room numbers so you can see what room the agent will try and give you. I was initially offered a room right outside 3 elevators, I asked for room on the stern of ship and was given exactly what I asked for. Of note, these rooms were not available on any of the travel websites I had looked at.

I've had really good luck booking direct with Carnival also. I recently booked a December cruise and got it from Carnival for 230.00 less than the lowest online price. Also got an 8I cabin for the price of an 8a.

Most of the cruise lines now are booking cruises directly. However Carnival is one of the few that actually will beat or upgrade over a price you got elsewhere.
