I am scheduled to leave out of the port of New York on June 30th on the Victory does anyone have any advice on this?

I am used to Florida ports so this might be a real eye opener

Get there early, around 11:30am or noon should be sufficient. Plan for traffic! We literally had to wait on an hour long line of cars just to pull up to the curb at the terminal, which again is why it pays to get there early! At least we could have been waiting it the Terminal to get on the ship but instead we were stuck in traffic. Other than that get your cameras ready because NYC has the best scenery to watch as you depart, it takes over about an hour from the time your ship pulls out to the time you finally pass the Statue of Liberty and go under the Verrazzono bridge but it is well worth it!

Hi Al. The following Web site will tell you everything you need to know about the port of NY, including directions and parking info (if needed): http://www.nycruiseterminal.com/terminalNYC.html

We've cruised out of NYC several times, most recently on Carnival Victory last summer. I agree with jetblue that the trip down the Hudson River out of the City is fabulous. I suggest going to one of the top decks for sailaway. As you pull out of the port, the NYC skyline will be to your left. Once you pass the tip of Manhattah, the Statue of Liberty will be on the right. And, do stay on an upper deck when going under the Verazanno Bridge -- I don't want to spoil it for you, but it was very exciting, even for one who's seen it many times.
