Getting married in Jamaica?!?!

We were originally going on a Southern Caribbean cruise in May and were planning on getting married in St. Thomas. Now, due to family availability, we will be going on a Western Caribbean cruise in April. Our ports are Labadee, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Ideally, we would like to get married in Jamaica - only because then we can enjoy the last half of our cruise as a married couple. We don't see much information about what beach Royal Caribbean uses in Jamaica and what it looks like.

We have heard questionable things about Jamaica as a cruise port and don't want to sacrifice our special day if it isn't a good place to get married. The Royal Romance website doesn't give a wedding location or any pictures.

If anyone has any experiences or information on beach weddings through cruise lines in Jamaica - please help us out!

Thanks all!

Do yourself a favor. If you do get married in jamaica (outside), plan your bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen tuxes accordingly. I witnessed a wedding at Rose Hall Beach near Montego Bay and the wedding party was so hot and sweaty they almost all passed out. It did not look like fun! The dresses were all long with sleeves and the wedding gown had way too much fabric for the heat and sun. The men all had on black tuxes with the groom in tails. They had a guy running around with a towell just trying to wipe the sweat off of everyone!

Jamaica was booked, so it looks like Grand Cayman is in. I am wearing a bustled, not very puffy tank-style wedding dress while hubby-to-be will be sporting a breezy Tommy Bahama white shirt and black pants. We were looking at photos of people in tuxes and their faces are so red I can just imagine they were miserably hot.

You may consider getting married on the ship itself. It would save you the hassle of trying to organize everything on shore and you still get the beauty of the blue caribbean sea. You should contact Royal Caribbean to see what shipboard wedding plans they have.

We looked into it, but we got swept away with the package in Grand Cayman. They take care of everything for us. The minister runs and gets the marriage license. All we have to do is show up.

OK, sounds like a plan. I'm looking forward to your pictures posted on this web site!
