Getting money in casino against your room card

Sorry, I wasn't getting any feedback on the Casion forum, so I will ask this here.

Is there or is there not a fee attached with getting money at a gaming table and putting it on your sail and sign card (or whatever it is called)?

I have done it once, a while ago, and there was no charge. Then, I thought I heard that they were wising up to this and started to assess a fee.

Can someone tell me from recent experience which is true?

Thanks.

I think it is different than a cash charge for the room card even if you have a credit card you are leaving for your sail and sign card.....

I do think they charge you a fee for taking cash out on your sail and sign card but it is nothing compared to what they charge you if you go up and use a credit card to get cash from the casino.. They charge you a fee and also the credit card company charges you a cash advance fee..

So if you use your sail and sign card , they write it as a purchase and it does not cost you the cash fee ...

hope that helps

Sara Lee,

I am confused...at first you say that you think they DO charge a small fee and at the end you say they treat it like a purchase and don't charge a fee....I am still confused.

If they aren't going to charge me a fee, then I will just take money out against the room, put it on my credit card, pay it off and earn SkyMiles for the money. This is why I thought that I had heard they would start charging a fee, because someone could take out, let's say, $1,000 against sail and sign, put it on their credit card, then use the $1,000 to pay off that charge on their credit card when they get the statement....that way you earn points on your credit card :)

Just searchin' for the answers...

Thanks for your help.

There is no charge to get cash from the cage at the casinos by using your Sea Pass which is directly connected to the CC you give RCCL at check in.

There will be ATM's outside the casinos that charge about 1% if you would rather use your own money than borrow via a credit card. I bring cash and hopefully enough to last my usual two week jaunts.

Good luck and have fun. :)

I sailed on Radiance of the Seas in March of 2003, I charged over $500.00 to my sea pass card in the casino which is your card for onboard purchases, and NO there was no fee involved of any kind. If you use a credit card or ATM on the ship that is not the card you are using on your seapass then there is a charge of $5.00 per transaction and sometimes the ATM machines are empty of cash, I ALWAYS use the seapass card in the casino to get cash, have on all 7 cruises in the last 4 years and NEVER had a charge added! This is definitely the way to go, even the islands will charge a fee and then again on your credit card statement.

My advice: use your sea pass card to get cash in the casino, no fee from them and no fee from your credit card company!!!

Happy Cruising!!!

Maybe you can try and call Royal Caribbean on their offices. Their number is 1-800-327-6700. they will answer any question you have about the ship you are sailing. I know when I went on the Grand Princess they did charge a fee to take money against your Sign&Sail in the casino. Call RCCL and they will help you. Happy Sailing!!!! Let me know everything about the Navigator when you get back. My husband and I will be going on it in January/2004.

Celebrity and Carnival are both charging 3%. I would think they will all be doing it.

Things do change but as of mid June there was no charge to get money from the Casinos on RCCL. Since the user is not traveling on Carnival or Celebrity, does it matter what they do?

While on the topic, I know what I would do re those two cruise lines. Not use their casinos and write those Cruise Lines why. As it is the slots and VP have poor return percentages so why should they take yet another 3% from a passenger that ups their take to about 8 to 10% on VP and a lot more on slots.

Just back for Enchnatment and you can take cash out at the casino window with your sea pass card with no fee. I took $20.00 out a few times to play blackjack before dinner since I didnt have any cash on me at the time. Had some bad luck and ended up losing just over 100 during the trip. Oh well. By the way the time to play $5 hands is in the late evening. Plenty of space at the tables after midnight.

Just got back on Navigator, and there is no fee when you purchase chips in the casino on your Sea Pass card.

I was just on Carnival. If you ask for cash at a table game there is a convenience fee. If you put your room card into a slot machine and request $1,000 against your room, there is no fee.
