Going on Zuiderdam? Can you help my sons?

My two sons, ages 10 & 13 yrs., have asked me to post a topic for them.

They are dying to find out what the Zuiderdam's video arcade center looks like and were wondering if someone could take a picture of it when they are on the ship and post it. Can anyone help us out with this? We won't be sailing until July and they are anxious to compare the games to the Grand Princess, Radiance and the AOS.

Also, a question of my own: are there any restrictions on the use of pools for kids?

Thanks so much for the help! :wave

The only pool restrictions I am aware of for children are the normal safety ones you would expect such as no diving. Most families opt to go to the main Lido pool....and those folks with out children usually go to the stern pool.

Sail - As far as you know then, there aren't any rules about which pools they can swim in and at what time? Thanks for the help! :wave

When our son was young he was in the pool alot .There were never any restrictions for him.(except those imposed by me!). Of course,as Sail7Seas said, the usual pool courtesy applies....i.e. no splashing, diving, jumping in pool etc.
The only time he wasn't allowed in the pool was when there was an organized 'pool game'.on the activity schedule. He wasn't old enough to participate.

If the pool is open for use, the boys will be free to enjoy it...all the pools.

I KNOW you will be carefully monitoring them....your rules will be stricter than HAL's :)

Well, that's certainly different from the RCI and Princess ships we've been on lately. I think it's great - no time limits, yeah! The boys are used to swimming a lot (have our own pool) and know how to behave the right way. I hate to even see a clock during vacation, so following strict time limitations has always bugged me. Thanks so much for the helpful info.! :)

Lady Jag, I will make a point of taking some photos of the video arcade when I am onboard week after next. Will make them available to you as soon as I return.

She cancelled her cruise on Zuiderdam months ago.

She, apparently, listened to all of the "new ship woes"and was not sure it was the ship for her. Pity, as Zuiderdam has shaken off all of the early new ship deficiencies and is a great ship now.

Thanks anyway, Cruzman. I appreciate it, but we did cancel a few months ago and I'm sure (more than ever) that we made the right decision. Hope you have a great cruise! :thumb

Pity?? Why is it a "pity " that she cancelled her cruise? We all have our own reasons for sailing or not sailing on a particular ship. There have been many mixed reviews on this ship and many of them not that good. I'm sure the ship is all right, but everyone has their own reasons for sailing particular ships and she had a good one for not going at that time. I don't blame her in the least.

Bobbie, I can't wait until we are able to visit or at least spend time in Disneyland again. That was so much fun last October. Hopefully we will be able to coordinate our schedules some day and also do a cruise together. Will let you know what decision I make about next April on our cruise.

And Sail, you are entitled to it (your opinion, that is). I'll share mine when I return, even if it isn't popular. Us opinionated folks gotta do what we gotta do!

Hope you have as great a time as we did.....we can't wait to return in August. I'll be eager to hear your comments.

You MAY be getting very lucky!!!
We knew that Chef Mike is leaving soon for his vacation....very well deserved, I might add. His kitchen is the best we have ever enjoyed on ANY cruise...any cruiseline.
I'm not sure when he is returning or even if he is returning to Zuiderdam but I heard there is a chance Chef John Mulvaney MAY be coming to Zuiderdam. That would be fabulous. Before we met Chef Mike, we always thought Chef John was the best.....he runs a great kitchen! And he is a terrific guy as well. You'll dine well if he is there.

Sail7Seas,

When was Chef Mike leaving for vacation? We are leaving 5/24 on the Zuiderdam and after reading your reviews we were looking forward to our dining experience.

:cheers

loved the virtual tour site, thanks for the info! Do you all think that cabin 6056 is an OK location?

Not positive , but I am quite sure he disembarks the day you embark. If Chef John is coming, you'll be happy although it is a whole new kitchen arrangement for him from the ships he is accustomed to. Also.....all (most) of the same sous chefs will be aboard.

zuiderdam eastern, best snorkeling

Any suggestions on which port would be the best for snorkeling and which excursion would you recommend, we prefer the ones with equipment provided, otherwise it's another $45. Thanks, any other good excursion info. would be appreciated. Also, is it worth the $29 for the teen party at half-moon for a 14 yr. old?
