We're booked with two other couples and can't wait to go!! =clap I 've got a couple questions, if someone could answer them.
We were wondering if we would run into problems with bringing our own liquor for cocktails :cheers in the room before dinner??? Suggestions??

I've been hearing that the cruise lines are getting stricter with this.

Also I've seen people mention a drink/soda card - how does it work & how much does it cost??

Thanks for the help in advance,
Kim

I'm not sure about the liquor, but the coke card is 22.50, which comes with a thermal cup, and unlimited coke, diet coke, sprite and ginger ale, I believe. They put a sticker on your cruise card. There are staff members selling these as soon as you board, if not it is available at any bar on the ship. It's a pretty good deal if you drink soda. Despite what you may hear drom other cruisers, the Golden staff is more than happy to refill your drinks whenever you would like. You'll enjoy cruising on this ship. It's beautiful.

I have no issue with booze smuggling per se but , it is easier and really almost as cheap to just order a bottle of hard liqour through room service. A 26"er of rum cost us 20 dollars. We brought on cans of coke ( diet cafeine free) openly, they were alowed. We also brought a couple bottles of wine openly as they are allowed.
Please be aware ( unlike one poster who found out the hard way) that when you pack your booze in your suitcase that when your suitcase is out of your sight it is thrown around like crazy so for goodness sake put the booze in plastic and wrap very well!
Have a nice cruise. A rum and coke before dinner is a lovely treat out on the balcony, one of our fond memories of seven days of total relaxation and fun!

We "smuggled" 2 bottles of Malibu disguised as water on and didn't try to hide a bottle of gin upon 1st boarding. Nothing was said

We openly purchased wine ashore.....nothing was said, it could have been any spirit.......so we purchased vodka and more gin.....carried it in the brown paper bags that americans get groceries in....and nothing was said. So they do not seem to bother too much. Saw some guys surrendering 6 packs of spirit sold in cartons.

Soda cards are great....you only need one for a family. We were shy to start with and only asked for 1 drink then handed the card to the others..in the end we just asked for 2 large cokes or what ever.
