My Fiancee and I are going to book our honeymoon on the Golden Princess. The problem is I have no idea what decks/cabins are good and which should be avoided.

We are looking to spend ~1200/person and we would like a private balcony. Thats where my useful information ends and my questions begin.

I have read that the Golden Princess is set up so that many of the balconies overlook each other or can be seen from the walkways. I have also heard that some decks should be avoided due to noise. The problem is no website has every been specific enough to tell me which decks to avoid and which rooms to seek out (or avoid).

Thanks for you help!

First congratulations on your up and coming marriage. I have sailed on both the Golden Princess and her sister ship Grand Princess. Both times we booked a mini suite on the emerald deck. These are aft cabins. They are completely private. They have a roof over head which makes it nice that you still can sit out there if it is raining. The two last cabins 728 port and 729 starboard have extra large balconies (wrap around). I loved being in these two cabins. No you do not hear any noise form the theater below.

DO NOT book any cabins on the dolphin deck. These have no privacy at all. There is no roof over their balconies and everyone from above can look down on you.

We really enjoyed the Golden Princess (December 2002). I thought the food and service was better on the Golden than the Grand (December 2003).

Please feel free to e-mail me if you have more questions.

Go with catagory AD if you want a mini suite, I think that is what Gram was saying above. We also had one of these on the Grand Princess, was terrific! Lounge right below us, only heard a voice over a microphone one time, very muffled. If you want just a standard balcony cabin, not a mini suite, then go with one higher up. Im not certain (dont have a brochure right in front of me) but the 2 higher decks I think have private balconies. The lower you go, the farther out they stick (although nice and big) and the less privacy you have. Congratulations!
