My experience with the Grand class ships is that they pitch a bit but hardly roll at all. If you're anywhere near midship you won't notice it... especially in the Caribbean.

Can only speak for the Golden's sister, the Grand. In 4-8 ft. seas with no wind, very minimal movement, just a gentle roll. In 18 ft. seas with 35-45 mph winds, TONS of movement in the aft & fore sections and higher up decks. I should say not only movement, but noises - creaking, moaning, groaning, smashing, etc. It just depends upon the weather conditions. :) Most likely you won't have the bad weather we had the second time on the Grand.

The wife and I sailed on Golden Princess for the Canada/Nova Scotia run last Oct.. We hit 18-20 foot swells on the way back down south.

Golden Princess has stablizers that are 26 feet long and ten feet wide. Now, these stabilizers will REDUCE the rocking movement. They will not do much for pitching. We had Empress forward 201. The pitching really lulled me right to sleep. I had the biggest water bed in the world :lol

Also, remember you are on the open ocean and not in a parked automobile or on a pond lake, and are suseptable to whatever mother nature throw's at us.

As the other @ddicts here say, a bad cruise is still better then a bad day at work. :thumb

Both Grand Princes and Golden Princess have more movement than we ahve seen on other ships. On our 12-6-03 Golden Princess cruise, ther was a lot of movement. Many people had patches on behind their ear. I, who cannot ride a bus the 4.5 miles from work to home, have never had a problem. The most motion is usually at night when they are at speed. This has an affect of rocking me to sleep. The motion will be greater on Caribbean Princess. There will be a larger area for the wind to blow on, but the beam will be the same as G.P. and G.P.

When Royal Caribbean built Voyager class ships, I believe that the upper 4 decks are aluminum rather tah steel to make the ship less top heavy. I do not know the construction of Caribbean Princess.
