Hello all- I recently booked a solo cabin (first time going solo!) on the Golden Princess sailing out of Puerto Rico on June 6, 2004. Is anyone else going on this sailing? The itinerary is so interesting. I've never been to St. Kitts/Nevis, Grenada, Caracas or Aruba. My dream has always been to go to Aruba and getting all the other cities thrown in is fantastic. If anyone has any tips about these cities, please clue me in. My main interest is snorkeling. My only concern is the dining situation since I might feel awkward dining alone or being seated at dinner with strangers- lunch and breakfasts aren’t as difficult for me. Thanks to all who reply!

Hi Lisajane, We sailed on the Golden out of Miami last February, truely a wonderful ship. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We were in Aruba a couple of years ago on a southern cruise. I would love to go back there again. It's a fantastic place to see.

We are thinking of doing one of the Southern Carib sailings on the Golden next srping, but haven't decided which one.

I think many you should try traditional seating and see what type of tablemates you get. You may make friends and then you have company for the cruise. We've made good friends with all our tablemates on our three sailing on the Grand. If you don't make friends, you can switch to Anytime Dining.

The itinerary sounds great...which is one reason we are interested. Snorkeling should be excellent.

Hi,

We are sailing on the Dawn in November with the same itinerary. I will probably post a trip report when we return. However, are not going to Caracus because of political unrest. We are going to Margarita Island instead, which should be great. I had always dreamed of going to Aruba too and we vacationed there 4 years ago and was disappointed. The island was too commercial for us, very family oriented with many condo owners. The snorkeling was just ok and the while the water was turquoise, it was a little murky. However, the food was excellent. The best thing for us about cruising is to visit different islands to see if we want to vacation there. If we had visited Aruba on a cruise, we probably would not have gone there. However, there are many die hard fans who live it and you may become one of them. Just my opinion.
