Dear cruiseliners, do you have any suggestions, BEST DEALS concerning transportation to explore the island, F&B, things to do / don´t do, souvenirs, watersports etc. We like to organize our island-trips on our own.
We are looking forward to our first caribbean cruise with the “Navigator of the Seas†on May 3rd for 7 days.
Thanks for your help…!!!

Re: Grand Cayman: BEST DEALS, Do´s & Don?t´s

Probably the most popular excursion is "swimming with the stingrays". There are many tour operators at the dock for around $ 25.00 per person. Capt. Marvin, Capt. Crosby, and NativeWay are 3 very popular companies.

An island tour of "Hell", "7-mile Beach", Turtle Farm" and the "rum factory".. Definitely wait till you get there as the price is $15.00 per person verses the $ 45.00 ship cost.

Atlantis Submarine ride. Around $ 75.00. A very interesting excursion that takes you down to 100 feet, and takes you to edge of the Cayman Wall, where the ocean drops straight down to over 2000 feet. Quite an experience.

Then you can always catch a cab to 7 Mile Beach, and rent snorkel equipment. There are several ship wreck close enough to shore to snorkel to and around.

Liquor is very, very cheap, but other souvenirs are a bit more pricey that the rest of the Caribbean.

Here are some pictures of Georgetown, Hell, Stingray City, Turtle Farm, and the Submarine tour:

I was in Grand Cayman last week, on the Carnival Paradise.

I can't say enough good things about Nativeway Sports! For $25.00 pp, they met us at the dock as we had booked the Stingray City/Coral Gardens tour with them. Because it was raining, we were all about an hour late getting off the tender. We were concerned about missing our tour, but THEY WAITED FOR US! They explained that the tenders were behind in schedule, and they were waiting for another party, but they had phoned ahead to someone at Seven mile beach, and it was sunny there. They dropped us off at Seven Mile Beach - no charge, and then picked us up about 45 mins later when the other party had arrived. This would have normally cost us an extra $15-20.00 extra.

Their tour guide was helpful and very friendly. The spot at Stingray City was great and also Coral Gardens had some of the best snorkeling I've ever seen.

In short, Nativeway is a great value, and they went out of their way to accommodate us. I would recommend them to anyone goping to Grand Cayman.
