Any good reliable ones in GC that offer either discover scuba classes or dives if we become certified?
We are seriously thinking of doing the certification here in town thru the local dive shop before going on our cruise in Feb. And if we can't we will do the discover scuba while in GC. I was going to try it in Cozumel but I really want to swim with the dolphins cause I love them so much! So in GC we have nothing planned and need suggestions on a good place to get scuba lessons to get our feet wet so to speak. Thanks!

You will probably find several PADI shops in GC, which will have PADI standards. I would highly recommend that you get certified before you go. This will provide you with several options.....(1) you will learn if everyone in your family truly can and likes to scuba (when we were certified, my teenaged son who is an extreme adventure person did have problems during our first open water dive and had to have a make-up 1:1 dive with the instructor to get acclimated); (2) you will have the experience of breathing, negative buoyancy, weights, etc. in advance to help you spend more time actually enjoying the dive in GC, rather than acclimating to it; (3) you can spend more time on your actual vacation, rather than studying, training during your trip; (4) while you could get open water certified (which is just above discover scuba) on your vacation, if you truly love the water, you might as well put forth the little bit extra time and money and get open water certified before you go....it'll open up many more options for you in the future.
Also, if you go to your local dive shop, I'm certain they will have lots of literature, magazines, books, etc. (some even free) which will hook you up with dive boats and shops in GC. Good luck!!!
