There used to be a store right across from the tender dock. It wasn't there the last time I was there. I found them in the internet store near the tender dock. They're called Tortuga Rum cakes and you can now but them practically anywhere in the Caribbean. Carnival even sells them on their ships. They are delicious, I always bring some home for friends and co-workers. They come in different flavors too.

Not sure what ship you will be on, but on the Carnival ships they have them for you to purchase. They are made by the Tortuga Rum Cake Company, web site is www.tortugarums.com Keeping in mind what the hurricane did to the island, you may be out of luck. They are great along with thier rums.

I can't believe you've never had these! Oh my goodness, they are soo good! I am not a big rum cake lover, but the different flavors are amazing! When we were in GC, there were several shops that sold them. Or, like randk said, you can just get them online. YUM!

They're all over the island, and they're still cheaper than the duty-free ones on the ship.

I've also tried the rum cakes from Blackbeards Rum Company and found them equally yummy. Sampling them is a lot of fun. Trying to decide on your favorite flavor is the hard part! :lol

Last time I was in GC it seemed like they had free samples, of the rum cakes, in every shop we entered. We would eat our way threw the stores. Tortuga Rum cakes are fantastic and I am looking forward to purchasing more when we visit next June.

Sundey I was watching BET (cable channel) and they did a special on Grand Cayman and they did about 15 minutes covering the Tortuga Rum Cake Company. They showed how the cakes were made and how the company got started!!

There's also Chocolate and Key Lime. My sons - as teens - asked for Tortuga Rum cakes for their birthday cake...they both really like them. I'm sorry to hear the little store that use to be just to the left of the ship (looking away from the ship) is no longer there....they let you taste fresh cakes. mmm mmm

The last two times we brought rum cakes home in our suircase they were the suitcase that was opened at the airport. One of the times they lost our suitcase for 2 days and it was a direct flight. The rum cakes are dense and the x-ray machine may cause them to be subject to search.

I still will bring them home, just in their own suitcase.

Blackbeards rum cakes are great! It was a year ago when we were there, but they would deliver your purchase to your room on the ship so you didn't have to carry them around while you did your other shopping. It was located near the Harley-Davidson Shop and the Hard Rock Cafe.

My favorite is to take a slice of rum cake, put it in the microwave just long enough to warm it up, add two scoops of Bluebell vanilla ice cream, and then drizzle a little Godiva liquor on top. For those of you on low-carb, forget it.

We use one of the vacuum seal things to keep it fresh in the fridge.

THe tortuga cakes are already vacuum sealed. THey will keep for 6 months on the shelf or indefinitely in the refrigerator. THey are the bomb, and the rum is awesome, too.
