RCI offer an ex. to Spanish Bay Reef Resort - they say 5 hrs.
Has any one been there? What did you think of it? Good snorkeling? Too crowded?
We are at Grand Cayman from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Do you think we would have enough time to go to Sting Ray City and Spanish Bay both?
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!!!

Check out the spanish bay reef resort web page (do a google search).

There isn't a sandy beach there, it is ironshore. This means that the snorkeling should be pretty good.

If I was you and wanting to do Stingray City, go with an independent operator and then ask them to drop you at either a nice sandy beach (anywhere along 7 mile beach for example) or at a good snorkeling area. The driver should be able to offer some advice. When you are all done, Taxi back to the tender dock.

Thanks for the info. GREAT PHOTOS!
Do you think we will be able to see all those great fish if we just snorkel instead of dive? Where did you do the dive in Grand Cayman?

The 2 dive sites were off of 7 mile beach, but you would need a boat to go out far enough. I don't know if you will see all the same fish, but there should be plenty to see. Grand Cayman has a well protected system of marine reserves. Scuba diving is a big tourist business on the Cayman Islands and because tourism=money, the protect the reefs and don't over fish them.

There seemed to be plenty of snorkeling going on near where the ships tenders docked in Georgetown. Lots of people recommend Eden Rock for a shore snorkel/dive. It is located a walking distance to the right of the tender dock.

There are 2 dive shops right by Eden rock:

Even if you don't plan on diving, there should be useful info on their web sites. Who knows, maybe you will be interested in a discover scuba experience once you check them out.

Good luck on your cruise

Bluefish-
Thanks so much for the info and web sites. Enjoyed them all.
I took scuba about 15 years ago, but never took my final dive for certification. Live in "cold country" right now, but maybe on one of the cruises I will try again. I love the thought of seeing all that beauty and not having to come up for air all the time.
Thanks again for your input!
