My wife and I have booked the Nov. 13, 2004 sailing out of Galveston with 5 other couples.

I have heard rumor that the Grand is being drydocked just prior to this time.

Has anyone heard what is up with this?

congrats on your booking :cheers

Don't worry about the drydock. Ships are regularly drydocked for maintenance (replace carpeting, painting, etc., etc.).

I read that the Grand Princess sailing from Galveston will have the newest feature
MOVIES UNDER THE STARS, and that might be the reason that the ship will be in dry dock before coming to the Galveston area. We are booked December on the Grand and looking forward to this as this is our first cruise on Princess

I saw on another Roll Call at cruisecritics.com that it will be "wet dock" to install the big screen and change the Painted Desert cafe to a steakhouse. Think they are "spiffing it up" before it sails from Galveston. There are roll calls on that list, too.

KennyG - we are booked on the Nov. 8th Sailing -

TA told us that the Grand was originally scheduled to sail from NY to San Juan and then San Juan to Galveston - they made the change a few months ago and added the Nov 8th and Nov.13 th sailings. Also, no repositioning cruise scheduled - maybe that's why most people are thinking she will be in wet dock just prior to our sailing on Nov. 8th - we certainly hope that's true - It would be great to have the updates before we sail.

Have a great cruise!
