Grand Princess Caribbean Cruise 14 days in March 2010

I'm thinking seriously of booking this cruise---will be my second Princess. Have sailed on the Diamond Princess to Hawaii and loved it. Reading that the condition of the ship isn't the greatest is concerning me somewhat. We'd want a balcony room. I like the itinerary very much. Could I have some feedback please?

It's been SO LONG since the Grand was given a proper drydock (I will be on her on Nov), that I can't imagine she still wouldn't be drydocked by March of 2010.

I would think you have an excellent chance of a new drydock before your sailing. There are just too many people complaining about her condition.

So, if you don't have clout with the line, you probably won't find out. Maybe Beryl can use her status to get an accurate response from Miami on precisely when Grand is due to an overhaul.

Well, I have booked it, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be fixed up by then. There weren't very many cabins in the class we requested still available, so I am hoping......

Sounds like a great cruise -- look at it myself but at this time, it is only wishful thinking.

The physical condition of the Grand is good. I was on her several weeks ago and she had recently been drydocked and updated. You can see my review under member reviews.

I was on her in April 09 and she was fine. Part of my balcony was in poor condition but the rest of the ship was great. They had been changing out carpeting and installing new flat screen tvs etc. You will enjoy her I'm sure.

Won't be long now before we board. We are on the 3/12/2010 sailing I can't wait. I just have to make it through the Maine winter.

You are getting more of a winter than we seem to be here in upstate NY. Like you, we are looking forward to the trip. We booked the railroad journey from St. Kitts yesterday---looked really good, and I researched it.

I hope we will get the chance to meet on the cruise---that would be fun!! Wonder if anyone else from here is on that cruise!!
