Grand Princess Class BA vs Class AC

I have a booking on the Grand Princess for cabin 501 on the Caribe deck. A good friend of mine has booked the same cruise with cabin 236 on the Dolphin deck. There is only a little over $100 difference for a mini suite vs. an outside double. I have been on the Caribe deck before and loved the big balcony, but the chance to get a mini suite and be close to my friend is temping. Can everyone above see your balcony on the Dolphin deck? I'd appreciate any advice from anyone who is familiar with these two cabin types. Thanks much.

There's no hiding on the Dolphin Deck balconies... the whole balcony is wide open to all above. Since you've been on Caribe, you know about the big, half-in, half-out balcony... you're all out on the Dolphin.

Tough call... I've done both, but I can't recommend one way or the other, because it really depends on your personality as to whether you mind being seen on your balcony all the time (and getting wet if it rains), and how important the balcony is to you versus the extra space inside.

Personally, I lean toward Caribe because I really don't like the open balcony, but this is very definitely a personal choice (no Princess pun intended...).

As much as I would like to have the sitting area, I'd rather go with the Caribe deck so that I could have some shade as well as sun on the balcony. That way, you can still be out and see the scenery. We've been on the Caribe a couple of times, and coming up in October will be again. Privacy was never an issue. It amazes me how few people you see out on their balconies. We use it alot, so we don't mind the extra expense.

If you like privacy you can get a mini suite on the Emeral Deck. These are great cabins. Completely covered. don't have to worry if it is raining.
