On the Grand Class ships (Grand, Golden & Star) there is no category AE. The mini suites are AA AB AC AD. With having sailed both the Grand and Golden we chose the category AD Emerald Deck for our mini suites. These are on the aft of the ship and very private. The AA AB AC are on the Dolphin deck and are completely exposed to the decks from above. There is no roof over the Dolphin deck. The best mini suites to book are either E728 or E729 these are the last cabins in the back sides and have extra large balconies.
There are AE Mini-Suites on the Grand, but there are only two of them. They're way forward, second suites from the front, just behind the big family suites. Too far forward for my taste, but a lot of people don't seem to mind it.
