We are thinking about booking the Grand Princess for spring break next year. (I know, tons of kids, we have two to add to the chaos, 18 and 14). Is the Grand a nice ship? Food OK? Things for the youngest to do on board? We are RCI cruisers normally, but really like the itinerary out of Galveston and want to try soemthing new... Anyone have any opinions either way?

We love the Grand. Can't compare to RCL yet but that will change in the fall. The food was excellent when we sailed, food is subjective, and chefs change. etc etc.
Things to do.. well there is no rock climing wall! There are several acres of outside/ indoor space space to romp on. An excellent basketball court and gym area. There is a game room and a kids area. 4 or 5 pools and at least 6 hot tubs. I found it hard to be bored, but I am not 14!!!

I've been on the Grand.. loved it! I think it will be comparable to your RCI experiences. I had my 2 boys along, and although younger than yours, they had a ball!

The Grand is a great ship and there is lots to do. There are 4 pools onboard so there is plenty of pools to go around and it is fresh water not salt water which I bet your kids will like. They have a nice childrens area and there are plenty of things to do to keep everone happy. We enjoyed the food on Princess very much and there are several options for that also. The Horizon court buffet is open 24 hours a day so you always have a place to eat as well as room service of course. The Grand has become one of our favorite ships for many reasons one of which is it never seemed over crowded. There are a lot of public areas and they are spread out so that it doesn't get so crowded.Another reason was the service and the food, as well as the choices for dinning. You will have a great time :wave

I would go on the grand over any RCI ship anytime (except Voyager Of The Seas). The Grand was PERFECT!

I just booked on the Diamond Princess leaving in two weeks. We were concerned about the number of kids on board because it was spring break. I was told that Princess is one of the few ships that limits the amount of children on board. I guess maybe they want to make sure that us old people are happy. Or, it could be that they want to have enough staff to accommodate the children's areas.

P.S. I love children I have 5 and 5 grandchildren, I just like to go on a cruise to get away from them for a few days!
