We're considering a short 4 day out of either LA or San Diego with our 10 1/2 yr old granddaughter. I see that Royal Carib (Monarch) or Carnival (Elation or Paradise) has that itinerary. Any observations/suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated. My concern about the Monarch is their cabins are smallish (122sq ft); Carnival is larger (186sq ft), but I hear that the Carnival "Fun Ships" on these short summer runs are primarily for sex and boozing (would be fine if I were 50 yrs younger).

Thanks........

This is truly a toss up, in general short cruises on any cruise line contain more of a party atmosphere because people are trying to cram in a weeks worth of cruising fun into a short 4 day period. You and your granddaughter will have a great time no matter which cruise line you choose since they both offer very similar activities... personally I would take Carnival for the twister waterslide! ;)
