Grandeur of the Seas

My wife and I are considering a last-minute cruise on the Grandeur at the end of July. This is a Vision Class ship and we're used to the larger Voyager and Radiance classes. Has any of you been on the Grandeur? Or any of the Vision Class ships? Does it have a concierge lounge (like the Voyager and Radiance classes?). I noticed it hasn't been refurbished since 2001... this is a long stretch, I think, so is it at the end of its run? Thanks....

There is no Concierge club on the Grandeur. The only Vision class that have one are Enchantment, Legend and Splendour.

While not quite as beautiful as Radiance class, the Vision class are never the less very attractive ships with plenty of glass, so I would not hesitate to book one if the itinerary is to my liking.

RCCL keeps their ships in really good shape with ongoing maintenance happening all the time. The Grandeur has certainly been in drydock atleast twice since 2001, although I don't know the dates......all ships are on a 3 year cycle for major maintenance.

I've been on the Grandeur 2 times out of Baltimore to go to Bermuda and we had a great cruise both times. RCCL takes good care of their ships, so don't worry too much about the ship not being in shape. I've been on Radiance , the Jewel , the Enchantment , the Monarch, the Soveriegn, the Mariner, the Majesty and I've never had a bad cruise with Royal. I don't think you will be disappointed. If you book I hope you enjoy your cruise.

I've been on Gandeur back in 2000. It was just okay.

Please know the "every 3 years" in NOT necessarily true any longer. They may make mechancial upgrades only, or skip to 4-5 years for aesthetic upgrades. You need to check with RCCL to get accurate info. None of the cruise lines are dry docking as often, unless they are having mechancial difficulties.
