It's great, although a bit subdued compared to our kids' favorite - RCI. I don't remember seeing the horse racing, but my sister has pictures of the belly flop contest. I usually avoid crowded pool area games, but they still have them I guess.
The 12 yr. olds are with the 8-12 group. They have the usual scavenger hunts, Connect Four Competitions, Ping Pong Tournaments, etc. The groups are usually small compared to other cruise lines. They reward the winners with great looking medals.
The video game arcade is "The Best" on the Grand out of all cruise ships according to my sons. The prices are very reasonable compared to other ships, their games are newer and best of all, they have half price days. Watch the Princess Patter for 1/2 price times & days. Make SURE you go on the Voyage of Discovery ride on multiple days. They change it every day.
p.s. - Bring lots of money for the arcade.
