Other than car rentals, what other options are there for ground travel from Seattle to Vancouver and Whittier to Anchorage? Embarkation is Vancouver, my wife and I will be flying into Seattle and flying out of Anchorage. Our ship is the Coral Princess- May 22, 2006 thru May 29, 2006.

There are buses and from Seattle to Vancouver there is also the train, however the train leaves at like 6:00am or 6:00pm only... and the buses are called Quickcoach... just type in Transportation Seattle Vancouver into Google.... do the same for Whittier / Anchorage..... the bus ride is like 4.5 hours to Vancouver, after researching my options I decided to fly directly into Vancouver.... the money saved didn't warrent the aggravation getting to Vancouver in my opinion....good luck.....

Re: Train

Yes there is one Train a day and it goes in the morning. But not quite that early.about an hour later actually. Check AMTRAC. They also show other times but they are busses. Have taken this train and it is a grreat way to travel between the two cities. You get into downtown (almost ) Vancouver around noonish (Train time) and a taxi to the port (Either dock) is about 10 mins.
Upgrade to business class for extra comfort. and quicker boarding. You can check bags no problem. Customs/Immigration is in Vancouver and easy. Business class gets off first and you get your baggage as you walk to the front of the train.

Thanks for both responses. I think we may opt for the train scenario to Vancouver. Anyone with any ideas for Whittier to Anchorage? We arrive in port at 12:30pm, then we still need to disembark, before we can make connections.

Can anyone tell me where the Amtrack train leaves from? Are there any convenient hotels near the train? What is the best way to get from your hotel to the train? Thank you.
