Ground transportation question re: Long Beach, Ca

Hi there! I am new to cruising and am currently trying to figure out transportation for our family of 2 adults and 3 kids. It looks like we may fly into Long Beach, rather than LAX. I have never been there but I hear it is not too far from Disneyland and the actual Carnival port. If we choose to "cab" it, are taxis easy to get once you disembark at the Carnival terminal? What about Van taxis so that we can stay as a group? I have no concept of how chaotic it is once you are off the ship and I want to keep things as organized as possible with the three tired kids in tow!!! Also, has anyone taken a taxi from Long Beach airport to Disneyland before and was it expensive? We plan to do 4 nights at DL before the cruise. Thank you so much for any advice you can give!!!!! :p

Upon debarkation, you'll find "84 zillion" taxis waiting for you. I've never taken the cab to Disneyland....so I don't know the price. Options like vans such as "PrimeTime" and "SuperShuttle" exist. Lastly...I know this exists at LAX. Not sure about Long Beach. There is a "Disneyland Express" bus [sort of like the Carnival transfers] that take you from LAX-nonstop to the Disneyland hotels. Like I said, I don't know if the last option available from Long Beach.

Okay, lets take this one step at a time. I live in Los Angeles. The first thing we need to get straight is the RELATIVE notion of "not too far". Living here I agree, its "not too far" from Disneyland to the Carnival pier in Long Beach. HOWEVER, now let speak in real terms. Since you are talking about taking a cab from the Disneyland to the pier, we will check the distance from Disneyland to the Queen Mary (both major landmarks). It is about 27 miles. At $2.45 per mile (for a cab) that works out to $66.15 plus tip.

Here are some photos to help you get a visual picture of what you are looking at ...

Finding a taxi at the port will be no problem. I'm sure you will find several van taxis so that your entire family can go in one cab.

From the Long Beach Airport to Disneyland is about 20 miles. So that works out to about $49 plus tip if you go by cab.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks for the great input! It really helps to have a grasp of those distances. One thing that I still don't get is that if you book a shuttle (such as Primetime) how do you know when to have them pick you up at the dock to leave since you aren't sure exactly what time you'll be off the boat? Do you phone them when you are off or something? Wow, I am really green at this cruising stuff! For some reason the ground transportation piece has me the most stressed out! HAHA! :)D It is great to have you guys out there who have done this before! Thanks again!

When we arrive back in Los Angeles (4 times), I just go to my car. Twice in Florida I made arrangements for a rental car. Once I took a ship tour upon arrival in Miami and once I took a taxi back to the airport. In Vancouver I took a bus provided by the ship to the airport. My next cruise, in Puerto Rico, I'm going to take a taxi. So, I have no experience with shuttles.

Best thing to do is go to their website snd ask. I'm usually off the ship in Los Angeles by 10am. But since I also live here...I really have no idea what t do.
