How many days before the cruise would you expect to be able to find your room assignment on the Carnival website under modify booking??

About 45 days. Keep in mind, that isn't always the case [and that "book/modify" only works with bookings directly thru CCL]. Your "assignment" can change multiple times before embarkation.

Our Jan. 18th cabin assignment showed up online before we even made final payment. I asked my PVP and she said it was probably because the ship was selling out so fast.

I've booked a oceanview guarantee and I have looked at the website and tried to book certain cabins to find out if there is a high vacancy rate. There still appears to be plenty (8 or 9) oceanview cabins and many suites and balconies left for my cruise.
I haven't received a room number yet.....but I really hope it is soon. I've never booked a guarantee before, so I am a bit nervous. I made sure I booked what I had on last cruise so I wouldn't be disappointed, but it would be real nice to get a balony upgrade. Sadly, I hear it rarely happens even though my PVP said he would see what he could do.
