My TA told me when we booked that Carnival was only issuing "guaranteed" cabins in the category we requested. I'm guessing it may have had something to do with us booking only 3 months in advance (considering some folks book over a year in advance) maybe the ship was filling up. Regardless, of course we asked how they do the assignment of rooms. My TA said Carnival uses a combination of the volume of business the agency does with them, if the guests booked are past guests, and time booking was made. Now my TA did stress that that is what Carnival TELLS her agency. Who knows if they actually follow that policy. It could be a completely random process using a computer (which seems more believable to me). I suppose you'd have to call Carnival directly to find out.
