We have our 4th cruise beginning this weekend.......August 31st on Conquest out of Galveston.
There is a hurricane out there, already named Gustav, that might be coming into the Gulf of Mexico. Does Carnival send information via e-mail to the guests or what? Since we are driving to Galveston (from Lubbock) we would like to know how it will affect our cruise..........anyone had a similar experience??? Thanks

All cruise lines seem to wait until the last min to notify. Usually your booking agent will keep you posted but if you have any doubts whatsoever call Carnival and ask them to keep you informed of any changes. I suspect the worst thing to happen is they will change the ports if they need to. They did that to us one year. We couldn't get us into Costa Rica because of storms so they diverted us to Cozamel

Good luck, have fun on the cruise

Right now the projected path of Gustav puts it entering the Gulf between Saturday and Sunday morning so it should not affect your departure from Galveston. Beyond that it is hard to tell because the projected path is a pretty wide guess at this point.

You can bet that Carnival and the Captain of the ship will be carefully monitoring the storm and will steer the Conquest out of harm's way. The main thing is that you should maintain a positive and flexible attitude and accept the fact that Carnival can not control the weather and may have to alter the itinerary. Just go with the flow knowing they will be doing everything they can to make sure you have the best cruise possible.

Just rent a movie and wait. Dont worry. The Titanic is a good movie. Or the Poseidon. They are kinda in the same area as your cruise. O.K. Its called a sense of humor. Sorry. I take the Conquest every year. I go in July now. I used to go in Sept. but I got tired of the storms. But I always knew that they would cruise somewhere. Thats where the fun is.
