hey everyone,

just been checking HAL's website and i noticed some significant fare increases for many of HAL's caribbean cruises for the 2014=15 season. in particular the 10-11 day cruises. last time i checked for a jan-mar. sailing could have booked it for 799 pp, is now showing 1399 pp. was considering booking a spring cruise with HAL, but it looks like i'll have to wait for fares to come back down a little.

We have noticed the same thing.

In fact I have noticed the last couple of years HAL has really raised their prices.

well, it seems to be industry wide. i have been checking on cruises for the 14-15 season and have been noticing fare increases across the board. RCCL,NCL,HAL,PCS,X,CCL have all shown noticable increases in the 14-15 cruise season. it seems as if the luxury lines such as regent, oceania, azmura, cunnard lines have remained relatively close to their 13-14 price points. I really do not understand the increases comming off of mediocre cruise bookings year. couple that with the increase of negative press cruise lines faced in the past year, and it makes even less sense. Not only that, but some lines are adding "categories" to squeeze even more out of cruizers. Many cruise lines are flirting with the less than all inclusive cruising idea of paying more for beverages, eliminating/modifying carry on of water/wine/beverages. increasing corkage fees, charging for "after hours" room service... etc.. it seems as if the lines are going through a period of growing revenue, rather than competing for passengers as in years past. just my opinion, but i think the major two cruise line companies (RCCL, and CCL) have decided that they have the superior product to their counter part, and believe that the passengers will still come, and will suffer the increases regardless.
