HAL has expanded the Master Chef menu choices

To enourage more people to attend the Master Chef dinner in the main dining room -- the menu now has a couple more entrees.

We had one experience with the Master Chef's dinner. Luckily, we were sailing with our Travel Agent Extraordinaire and we had dinner in her Penthouse that evening. Needless to say, I was able to get what I wanted because she ordered it ahead of time.

I am far from an adventuresome diner, so I'm quite happy with the MDR, Canaletto or Pinnacle! :doubleup:

IMHO, I think the best way to improve the Master Chef's Dinner is to do away with it completely...or, at least, allow the Servers to work as they normally do each evening and quit making them act like a bunch of clowns, which I find horribly demeaning for them.

KK, I couldn't agree more. When we cruise on Carnival for much less money than HAL, we'll put up with the "silliness", but not when we pay top dollar on HAL!

Something you have to check on -- on our 14 day Amsterdam Alaskan cruise -- the Master Chef dinner in the dining room was held on one of the nights that Le Cirque was in the Pinnacle.

So we went to the Canaletto.

Having dined at Le Cirque in NYC many times when we lived there, I'll head for Le Cirque aboard ship - anything to avoid the Master Chef Dinner.

Even though we had a lovely time and a good dinner when we first went to Le Cirque -- we felt that the menu was too limited -- and service was too slow.

It's such a shame that silliness is involved in what is supposed to be a fantastic dinner. We haven't tried the Master Chef's Dinner on HAL, but have done the Princess Chef's Table with no silliness whatsoever. It isn't needed! However, I'll have to say that if I'm going to do something that upscale, I would much prefer HALs Pinnicle Grille or the Princess Balcony Dinner which was phenomenal.

Jacquie - HAL's Master Chef's Dinner is totally different from Princess' Chef's Table or the upscale dinner/wine pairings on some cruise lines where you pay an extra fee and the dinner is held in a private room (or sometimes the galley). This is open to all the the MDR. IMHO, it's not the meal itself - it's the clowning around that the poor Crew has to do, and it's been toned down from when they initiated this spectacle. I think HAL is a good product, but the Master Chef's Dinner is not one of their crowning achievements.

As for Le Cirque on board, I've received both positive and "reserved" feedback.

I have no complaint about the food served during the Master Chef's dinner, but my complaint is the way that it is served. I think that it is beneath our wonderful waiters to act as clowns. We generally eat at Pinnacle or even in our suite to avoid the Master Chef's dinner.

I just can't stand that Carnival atmosphere that goes on that evening.
