HAL Virus

Just returned yesterday from our Alaskan cruise. I heard part of a report that many HAL ship passengers came down with intestinal problems while in Ketchikan last week. Any details? What ship was it? We were sharing Ketchikan with the Maasdam and Veendam. We were on the Mercury.

Is this still going on? I plan on wiping down my cabin with anti-bacterial clothes, hopefully not insulting the room steward. Also keep a batch with me at all times. Why is this so prevalent nowadays?

I just read on another site it was the Amsterdam again. I know that this is not an uncommon problem in closed environments however the Amsterdam seems to have more outbreaks than the other ships out there regardless of the cruise line.

I haven't heard anything about the Amsterdam, but if, indeed, it's true, I find it very ironic that both ships reporting problems sail round trip Seattle!

It appears as if the Amsterdam and Star Princess passengers got ill early in the cruise and because of the incubation period for the virus it was most likely picked up in Seattle before boarding.

I suppose the Amsterdam just happens to keep being in the wrong place at the wrong time when these events happen.
