HAL Waitlist

Hello,
I am waitlisted for the Feb 16 Mexican Riviera cruise departing from San Diego on the Zaandam. I have spent about 100 days at sea with HAL and dropped the ball not signing up earlier for this cruise (I didn't think I could go due to work but now I can) and it is really important to me to get a chance to sail as my parents are going. Has anyone been on a HAL waitlist before? If you got to sail, when did you hear you got a spot? Was the cost full price? I am looking for any information at all- anything helps!
Thank you!

Sorry -- we don't do any last minute cruises -- always book anywhere from 1 year to 1 1/2 years in advance.

BUT -- you do have me thinking about this. The Master List has to be ready 3 days before the cruise -- so I would say that you should know by at least the 13 or the 14th at the lastest.

I gather that you live in the area and don't have to worry about flying.

Price -- I imagine there won't be any deals.

Do you ask how many others are on the waitlist?

I'm with you- I typically book early as well but the opportunity arose last minute and with my folks and I living in different states I really want to join them. HAL said they cap the waitlist at 20 total (some will want only inside or veranda, etc.) but they won't disclose if there has been any movement and what number we are. What is the Master List? It looks as though people can cancel with 24 hours notice so am wondering if we will hear on Tuesday....

For ships sailing from the US they are required to turn into Homeland Security a Manifest list of all passengers that will be on the ship -- this must be turned in 72 hours prior to departure.

Exceptions do happen when someone has to suddenly cancel. This 24 cancel thing is something new -- you need to purchase HAL's Platinum Insurance no later than final payment. Then if something happens and you have to cancel you can do so up to 24 hours before the cruise. You will get 90% of your cruise fare back.
