Can anyone tell me about Half Moon Cay?

is it basically just an island with a beach and nothing else to do? (not that there's anything wrong with just a beach!!!)

Please let me know!

Thanks!

It's a fantastic beach with cabanas available. They have a wonderful buffet lunch provided. There are several bars, one right on the beach. There is a small shopping area with island crafts. My husband did some snorkeling there and I believe they now have horseback riding, plus a number of other excursions.

Half Moon Cay is a beautiful beach. The island has little else and the shopping is very limited. We especially enjoyed renting kayaks and heading out to sea. The ocean is exceptionally clear and calm. However, if you sign up for a shore excursion, be sure the ship gets the time right. On our stop, the ship changed its clocks and mislead dozens of us about the time of excursions, because the island was on a different time. Interestingly, the island's time was consistent with the second ship in that day.

The beach is great! Clean, smooth sand, calm water. The gift shop contains the same things you can get on board. A good day to just relax, either on the Cay or the ship. Much nicer than Nowegian's island, Great Stirrup Cay, imo.

I have never been on a ship's private island. Are there things to do there that are free or do most events cost? I looked on HAL's website and saw that most of them you have to pay for them. My TA gave me the impression that they provided the events for free.

The beach, lunch and relaxation are free. Drinks, sodas, snorkeling, excursions are extra.

Half Moon Cay is my idea of Paradise. Looking from the shore to the wonder of your ship anchored, you get a feeling of complete freedom and absolute beauty.

Having been to several private islands that cruise ships visit, Half Moon Cay is my absolute favorite.....it is Heaven to me!

Enjoy!
