Ok folks, need your input or information from your vast knowledge banks. Where can you find out if the ship will be having a costume party on Halloween? My dear lovely wife would like to get a costume before we go if they are having anything. Any info would be a great help. We will be bringing candy for any trick or treaters on board.

This comes straight from Carnival's website:

Carnival, M&Ms Team Up for Frightfully Fun Halloween Promotion Aboard Fun Ships
09/17/2007

MIAMI (September 17, 2007) – Halloween is always a fun and memorable time aboard Carnival Cruise Lines’ ships.

And with the “Frightfully Fun†promotion, guests sailing with Carnival can enjoy a variety of fun-filled activities, everything from costume contests and Halloween-themed giveaways to scary movies, and, of course, trick or treating, with candies and other goodies from M&M’S®.

The “Frightfully Fun†promotion, which is also sponsored by Coca Cola, will be held on all Carnival voyages departing between Oct. 13 and 30, 2007.

Guests sailing on Carnival during the period are encouraged to bring their costumes and they can compete for a variety of prizes during the always-interesting costume contest and parade.

Carnival crew members will be dressed in costume, as well, and guests can have their photos taken with Carnival’s own “Fun Ship†Freddy.

Guests ages one to 14 are also invited to go trick or treating along the ships’ promenades and through various public rooms and areas, stocking up on M&M’S® signature candies, including MILKY WAY®, SNICKERS®, SKITTLES®, STARBURST® and TWIX®, all along the way.

“At Carnival, Halloween is always a special occasion and the ‘Frightfully Fun’ festivities provides guests of all ages with a unique and memorable way to celebrate this festive holiday, with activities and other events not found anywhere else,†said Vicki Freed, Carnival’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Carnival Cruise Lines, a unit of Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with 22 "Fun Ships" operating voyages ranging from three to 16 days in length to The Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, New England, Canada, Bermuda, Europe and the Greek Isles.

The line currently has three new ships on order – the 113,300-ton Carnival Splendor, set to debut in Europe July 13, 2008; and the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic, scheduled for delivery in October 2009 and June 2011, respectively.

We went on the Carnival Conquest for a Halloween cruise and had a blast. So much fun, in fact, that we are going again this year on the Conquest out of Galveston. OCT 2007.

I do have a suggestion for costumes-it was much hotter than expected and my daughter's heavy costume was very uncomfortable. I'd wear something light and use a coverup if it gets too chilly. Take things to decorate your cabin door and your cabin-it made it so much more fun, and it makes it easier to spot your cabin if you are a few sheets to the wind. I take a bag of mixed candies for the grandkid and she can sit on the bunk and rummage through it just like at home. As soon as you get on ship there are crew in costumes who will pose with you for the picture gallery. Do all the pictures-you never know which one you actually look human in and you don't have to buy anything if you don't want to.

As always, we found that our attitude made the cruise. Be sure to get out there as soon as the fun starts on deck and join in. I made the mistake of trying to catch my breath first in the cabin, don't stay in the cabin-get right out there! I'm nearly 70 and I gotta get the most out of it while I still can.

Bon Voyage,
Sunrise in Louisiana

We had a halloween costume parade on the Elation. It was SO COOL! We saw some elegant costumes, some quite detailed, and some that were plain hilarious!!!

One lady was dressed as an electical outlet. And her husband.... was the plug, of course!

We saw a guy dressed as Saddam Hussien, and to this day I am not sure it wasn't HIM!

Have a great time!!
