HAL's Amsterdam - sick people

It was reported in the local news that HAL was offering a 50% discount on a future cruise for those who became sick on the Amsterdam. In another news report it stated that HAL was offering a free future cruise. 50% off does not seem much of a deal for some cruises, seens their early booking discount are as much as 55% off their full rate. Does any one know exactly what compensation HAL is offering?

The fifty per cent would be additional discount off of the best cruise price you can get ....if you could book the cruise at a discount of 50%, you would then get an additional 50% off that already discounted price. It's a GREAT deal.

This is provided that the 50% off is already in the equation. How about the rest of us that are planning to book on HA - do we get a discount as well? I would think that at this point HA, et. al. would be doing all they can to regain past customers and new customers to sail their ships. It's unfortunate that this virus struck, but it's happened and the cruiseship lines are paying for it. Could this be a payback for corporate greed?

HAL does not need to regain past customers. If you are a Mariner, HAL is always in your heart. As far as new customers, HAL has gone above and beyond in order to deal with this dilemma, as have the other lines, what really needs a scrubbing is the news media getting THEIR mouth washed down with bleach.

I know I shouldn't , but I have to respectfully respond to John S. Laughton's post.
Sir:
After reading your post I have to ask, now who is the greedy party here? Exactly what are you trying to get a cruise for, free??

We are among the "Mariners" that bOB makes reference to and are booked for back-to-backs on Amsterdam in a full suite. If there was anyone who would be rubbing their hands in indecision, one would imagine we would fit that profile.

But...NO WAY. We adore HAL; have tried many of the others on numerous occasions so have definitely compared; and we can't wait to get to Amsterdam and we have every intention of having a fabulous time.

HAL does not have to give away the ships to get cabins filled. They have the largest percentage of repeaters of any cruise line.....they must be doing lots of things very well IMO

I agree....sounds like anything short of a free cruise isn't good enough.

Why? This is stupid. What a waste of money for a stuggling industry. If you feel the cruise line owes you because you happen to be sick on your cruise, that is a joke and stupid.

Well folks, the "suers " will always be out there I guess. However as of the last few years they have gotten to the point that any little thing will serve as a lawsuit. I wonder how long it will be before someone sues a cruise line because they lost in the casino, or when John Doe finds out that Mr. Smith got his cruise $25. cheaper than did Mr. Doe??

Oh well, anyone fortunate enough to be going on a HAL cruise has a duty to have fun for the likes of me, as I'm beached for the next few months.

frito, you are probably not too far off the mark. It is always someone elses fault! Could never be mine.

You know who is the most responsible though. Not those making the suites, but the stupid people like us on the jury that award millions because some dumb person spills coffee on themselves. Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid.
