Happy Anniversary Simon!
I can’t believe it, one month today since his frist vet visit and the OK to keep him. He spent the next two days isolated in the guest room until the flea medicine worked. He is 4 months old now, and getting to be all legs! It seems he has been here always in some ways, and in others he seems still new to my home. He has developed a little chirp, which sounds like a dove when he is exploring. I keep looking to see if one got in the house. He also has something that sounds like water boiling when he is chasing Maxie or Scooter.
He is still very skittish. Unexpected noises terrify him, and his response is to run and hide. For instance, my smoke alarm went off the other night (that’s how I know dinner is ready!). That sent him in a frantic dash for safety. Once, he was sitting on my computer desk watching the screen and chasing the cursor. I poured myself a glass of soda, and he jumped up and hissed back at the foaming liquid. He hisses a lot at all of us. If I move suddenly I get hissed at, he jumped on the tub and hissed at the soap bubbles.
He plays most of the time he is awake. Poor Maxie gets the brunt of it, but Scooter loves to chase him thru the house. When all 3 get going it sounds like a herd of elephants. He flips, does sommersaults, leaps and crashes. I have a cat “fishing poleâ€Â, a stick with felt fish on a string. I love to twirl that over his head and watch him watch it. His head goes in circles, and his eyes cross. It is so funny.
He is very demanding, especially with affection. He comes and sits at my feet and meows until I pick him up. Then his little purr motor starts. Yesterday he wanted to be held all day long. He is a little wiggle worm tho, has to keep changing positions. I finally got my legs to heal from the time he climbed them, and just now he did the same thing because I wasn't paying attention to him. Ha ha ha, no claws!!
I had company Saturday, and since he is very afraid of other people, I put him in the old cat carrier to keep him where they could see him. He looked so pathetic. I took him out and held him so they could see him, but when I put him down he was gone. He seems to know when I need to get hold of him, because he becomes quicksilver. Even if you touch him, you can't hold him! I must get a look on my face that tips him off.
The other morning I woke up and couldn’t breathe. I felt this huge pressure on my sinuses and my face. Gasping for air, I sat up, only to realize that the crushing pressure on my face was purring.
It has been a lively month, and I am so glad he is not living under my shed any more, but has a nice warm, cat filled loving home. Thanks to all of you for caring for him, too.
