Ahoy Afters. Happy Monday to everyone. It ended being a busy weekend for me and Leatherneck. Friday night we just had a quiet night at home. Saturday morning we were up early and headed to the mountains for the Graves Mountain Resort’s Apple Festival. We had a nice time walking around and seeing all the craft vendors. I picked up a few nice gifts for Christmas. We had lunch there as they serve delicious BBQ and homemade applesauce. We took a round-about way home and stopped at the Plough and Hearth Hdq store in Madison and I picked up some things I had planned on ordering on-line but decided since I was “in the neighborhood†to save on shipping. We took all back country roads home and it was a lovely drive. Once home we rested for a couple hours then headed out again. He had to deliver a TV that youngest DD was selling to oldest DD’s in-laws. I had a nice visit with Janice while Leatherneck and Richard hooked up the TV and re-programmed it. By this time it was after 6:00 so we headed to Red Lobster for dinner as we haven’t been there in ages.

Sunday we had a leisurely morning and I started the laundry churning. We loaded up the dogs in the truck at noon and headed to DD Mindy’s house. I hung out with her and the kids while Leatherneck went to get his truck washed and he made a run to BJs to pick up a few things. We were having the “Family Weekly Dinner†at Mindy’s house. We girls enjoyed sitting on her front porch while the guys watch the Redskin’s game. Georgie and Buck had a grand time playing with their dog “cousinsâ€Â. Georgie had fun playing with their rabbits too. We had dinner on the early side for us and we were heading home by 6:30. All in all it was a GREAT weekend. I made it an early night to bed as I was exhausted.

Not much else happening. Hope you all had a good weekend too. Judy, how much snow did you end up with?

Good Morning Afters. Cold morning here in CO. Won't go above freezing until after 10 am. Then we rise into the 60's and by Wednesday we are back in the 70's.

Denise we got about 3 inches of heavy icy snow after a hail storm and heavy winds. The roads turned bad quickly. I never ventured out. Just south of the city they had 7 or more inches what a mess. But we had chain laws in effect right around us because the roads were a mess and the trucks couldn't move.

Well Saturday I worked and then came home and spun through the housework after grocery shopping. Watched the Red Sox and crashed.

Yesterday, I woke up with hives. I believe I caused these hives by using a scented skin lotion Saturday since that is all I have done differently. Well I also ate a different brand of yogurt also and I've had reactions to yogurt in the past too. So I was pushing Benedryl all day yesterday and slept the day away. This morning I have even more hives so I will be calling the doctor to ask what to do. I don't think it is the new prescription I believe it was either something I ate or the lotion. My immune system is a mess so I should have known better than to change skin lotions. My choices for treatment are limited since when I took Prednisone a few weeks ago I had an allergic reaction to that. Arrrggggggg.

Then I had to take my new drugs for my skin last night. They come in an auto injectable pen. Well the hardest part of doing this is that you push down on the spring loaded pen and then have to push a button. The hardest part is pushing that button! I have to work up my courage. I tried 4 times to give myself this injection and it didn't work. By then I was worked up, and sick to my stomach. So I told Mike to push the button. He did and it didn't work.

So I sat down in the kitchen chair pushed that sucker hard into my leg and hit the button and it went off finally. I was so shocked I almost pulled the needle out. :lol Glad it finally worked but I hope this doesn't happen again. I'm bruised from trying to get the shot to work. I'm having a really difficult giving myself these injections, but they are helping me so I'm putting on my big girl face and getting it done. I don't need bad pens and will call the pharmacy today to let them know this happened since the drug company tracks these things and wants to know.

So then once this dilema was over and having slept all day I managed to sit and watch the Red Sox game. Of course I had to listen to Mike about how he would hate to see the Rockies beat my home team blah blah. I told him I don't feel bad because the Red Sox are going to beat the Rockies......and on it went. It will be an interesting couple of weeks. Ei Yi Yi.=huh

So that is about it on this end! Such an exciting life I live. :lol

Good morning all

Wow, Denise, sounds like you did have a busy weekend, but fun. Riding around in the country this time of year is so beautiful...

Judy...you sure didn't need hives. So sorry about your injections too, wish there was an easier way.

We had a quiet weekend around here, but today we will be getting all the grass and leaves cleaned up. It will be a battle for the next few weeks until all those maple trees loose their leaves.

Glad we have a cruise coming up in about 4.5 weeks. Just a 5-day but I will be with some first time cruisers (my two sisters and families) so that will be a lot of fun.

Have a good day all :)

Denice your week end sounded like fun--I have got to learn to get paw's wheel chair out of car . There were several places I would have liked to take a drive to on Sat. he mentioned last week how he missed just getting in car and taking a ride. We need to ask Billy t take us on some little excursions. I miss family dinners my f amily when I grew up was like yours we had dinner most weekends sometimes with grandparents or aunts and uncles.

BJ sorry you had such problems over the week end. I have one of those spring loaded shots for diabetis and I have bruises on all three areas I have been taking shot. Oh well we have to do what is available to get us feeling better.

Paw is wishing our leaves would get down so he can start cleaning up this is one chore he dreads each fall expecially with the handicaps he now has. No one seems to clean them up t his standards.

I did not get much sleep last night for we are in the fire area as I wrote above. I can look out my upstairs window and see them dropping water on the hill in front of us. the wind is picking up but the fire I am seeing from the window seems to be out for now. It is going to be a long day for us.

Good Monday Morning. It's sunny and warm again here today - I am looking forward to the cooler weather that we will have at the end of the week. Windows are open, coffee is made and I am checking in with everyone here.

Dh is home today so we are debating what to do -go down to Mohegan Sun or do some xmas shopping. I think the shopping may win.

Denise - Love going to craft shows. We have a big Christmas Festival coming up in a few weeks. Glad you had a nice weekend.

Judy!!! Hives are so uncomfortable. I hope they resolve soon - no matter what is causing them. I understand completely about the injections. I was doing injections of Octreotide for awhile and the anticipation of the shot is worse than the shot. My doc called this morning and wants me to go in for Vitamin b12 injections - luckily for me I won't be giving the injection, just getting it.

Reggae - Short time before your cruise!!!! :dance :dance

Maw - :wave

Audrey - Hope that fire stays out and you can get some rest. =hugs

Hi everyone. Wow, Denice, Your weekend exhausted me! That is the kind of things I used to love to do. Now tho, I had a dr appt this afternoon and that is all I can manage. I have 3 stores I need to hit, but I can only do one thing a day. I told the doc this, and he said well, yeah, your knees are basically dead. Yippee. He said get a a scooter, but it won't fit in my car, and there is no new car on my horizon. The ins would pay for the scooter, I wonder if I could convince them to pay for a van to go wih it? Hmmmmmmm
