We did it in Costa Rica about 3 years ago. Actually, it was a combined day with the aerial tram in the am, then luhch, then a boat ride down the river in the pm . I think it was probably a highlight of our whole Panama Canal cruise. We had a wonderful knowledgeable leader that day who really knew what he was talking about.
On the aerial tram they put a guide with each group of 5 people. These are mostly students from the local colleges who are studying biology or botany. It makes it a more meaningful experience.
I would do it all over again if I were in Costa Rica.
