Has Anyone sailed on the Norwegian Gem??

I just booked on the Gem on 11/18/08...13 night from Barcelona to NYC. This is only my second NCL cruise and the first one longer than 7 days. Can't wait to go!!!

Has anyone sailed on the Gem? Any feedback on the ship, etc???

We were on the Gem last Oct. for a Med. cruise. First time on NCL and it was a great trip. Especially for a port intensive cruise like the Med., Freestyle dining was perfect.

We had a category AF mini-suit and it was very nice. Nice big bathroom with a tub, flat panel TV, new beds, everything was brand new. When you cruise in Nov. Freestyle 2.0 will be in effect, whcih should make it even nicer.

Thanks for the info DJ! By the way....what exactly is Freestyle 2.0? How is it going to effect dining, etc??

Dining improvements include:
1. New menus with expanded choices in every restaurant;
2. Lobster Galore - Lobster in the main restaurant twice per cruise and in every specialty restaurant every night of the cruise;
3. Lavazza coffee in all Java Cafes and top suites;
4. A signature specialty dish in every restaurant, including the following:
a. Le Bistro: Côte de Boeuf, a 32-ounce premium gold angus rib eye steak; Plateau de Fruits de Mar, a cold seafood platter including mussels, lobster tail, shrimp and raw oysters on the half shell; and Cardinal of the Seas, a braised Maine lobster;
b. Italian: Osso buco, lobster ravioli;
c. Cagney's: Broiled lobster tail, 32oz Porterhouse, Surf & Turf, Alaskan king crab legs;
d. Tex-Mex: Warm lobster tacos;
e. Asian: Szechuan stir-fried lobster tail;
f. Action Station: Chocolate fountains;
5. The action station restaurants will also receive a world-class salad bar, soft serve ice cream machines, and improved service and nighttime ambiance with tablecloths and candlelight;
6. A new and expanded room service menu.

Sounds yummy to me!
