Has Princess Declined?

The last time my husband and I sailed Princess was before Carnival bought them. We always felt they were top notch. Does anyone feel thier service and food quality declined since Carnival bought them, or are they still at the same standard? We wonder if we should cruise with them again.

Thank you.

Sailed with them twice since the merger (10 times before it), it's had no effect on service or quality thus far ...it's still a bit soon for it to have had any effect ...if it ever does.

We sailed after the takeover..it's almost as if the merger never took place...the atmosphere of Princess was identical...so other than the paperwork change I'd say they were going to leave well enough alone(Thank God!!!!) and let it have the ambience they had always been...From all the reviews I'd read since they were smart enough to not poke the bear and risk loyal followings!!!... IMHO... Good Luck with the sailing choices!!!...:)......Joann

We also sailed after the take over and everything was top notch as always. Would not think twice about booking another cruise with them, they are a great cruise line.

We've sailed on Princess many times and just recently returned from Island Princess. We didn't find many changes except they now charge for cappacino in the dining room, and the bath robes provided for in cabin use aren't as good. Use to be thick terry cloth and now they are thin and light cotton. If those are the only two changes it isn't so terrible. We enjoyed our Panama cruise with Princess and rebooked another while on board.

Never considered sailing on Carnival, but have sailed often (about 30 cruises) on other lines, most owned by Carnival, and have found them to have retained their own "identities."

Sailed Panama Transit on Regal; November, 2003. We were told on Regal we do not have to pay for cappachino,,,,,,,,,,true. The linens and pillows were better on Regal than any other Princess; wonderful. Seems on the Regal because she is older they are noting to keep much the same as always..................just abit below dining room food than in 2001 on Princess Baltic Cruise................some foods are missing ; service is great, as always. Room service to us was better than Crown Princess. Really felt like we were with family sailing, the staff were the best. So in ending I would say I see no difference. We booked for Alaska while on the ship..........for May 16 this year. Same room we get good buys with obstructed views on the Dolphin Deck in the middle which we love, near the elevators, second show room and main showroom balcony on this deck................terrific room, lots of drawer space.

Have sailed Princess both before and after the merger.........really no difference at all that I have noticed. Still one of the best lines out there. I don't like Carnival, but do appreciate the fact that for the most part they do leave their brands alone....for the most part.
