We were there quite a few years back...

We crossed on the "floating bridge" (not sure if it's still in use?)

We took lots of pictures of the colorful buildings, and bought a beautiful painting of the harbor.

We walked around the shopping area near the floating bridge, some real neat "artsy" things for sale.

And, I'll never forget....right in the middle of the shopping area, some locals sat there and smoked pot right out in the open, on the street! Not sure if that's legal in Curacao, but they didn't seem to be concerned....=huh

Yes. it's very pretty. Great place to snorkel. And the "pontoon" bridge is kind of neat.

We grabbed a taxi and took an "Island Tour" which included a stop at the Curacao Liqueur factory. He would have dropped us off at a beach then picked us up but we decided to be dropped off in town and walk the waterfront where the boats come in from Venezuala and set up a floating market with fresh produce, fish etc. That gives way to sidewalk cafes that overlook the floating bridge where we stopped for lunch and a few Heinekens. We then walked over the bridge and checked out the flea market before heading back to the ship.

It's a very quaint town. We walked around and took pictures, and had lunch at one of the outside cafe's.

It's been years since I visited Curacao. I walked around Willemstad - believe it or not, the place I found most fascinating, even though I'm not Jewish, was the Synagogue. If memory serves me, it's the oldest in the western hemisphere. I enjoy historic places.

I think everyone else has covered most of the things that I did but I want to echo ShipMaven's advice about visiting the Synagogue there! The tour we took on our last cruise also visited the Museum and it is very interesting as well...especially if you are interested in history as well as sand and surf!

We stayed at an all inclusive in Curacao. We took a shuttle into Willemstadt. It's divided into 2 sections divided by a river

We just walked around town. Very neat and clean, nice shops and outdoor eateries. We people watched as we enjoyed our Amstels. There were 2 cruiseships visiting that day and the city was big enough to handle it.

Since we stayed at a hotel, we did not bother with any "beach" outings, but we heard that there is a very nice outing to "Klein Curacao"... which supposedly has a nice beach and beautiful water.

We're doing this stop for 16 hours on "Fat Tuesday", Mardi Gras 2010. Imagine 1850 guys from our ship...and we hope not too many other tourists that same day! --Rob+Roy of suburban Philadelphia, PA (and a place on the Gulf of Mexico too)
