We have with RCI, not Princess. From what people are saying on this topic at Cruise Critic, Princess will not allow upgrades at the pier. We did try once with them, but they said they were completely full. They have a convenient little pre-made plastic sign they put up that says, "Due to the ship being completely full, there will be no cabin changes." or something to that affect. RCI does that ocassionally too - even when I know there have been empty cabins. Stupid, but what can you do? Just upgrade ahead of time or go guarantee and hope for an upgrade.
