Fire is the greatest danger on a cruise ship. Irons are not allowed but if your ship has a laundromat there will be irons available.

I think travel steamers are alright but I am not 100% sure.

Folks do take travel steamers. Every Carnival ship has a laundrymat with an iron and ironing board (which really makes the ironing easier). However, many times just hanging the clothes in a steamy bathroom will do the trick.
