We got a call from Princess this afternoon saying that embarkation for the Diamond sailing tomorrow would be delayed until 3pm. After many calls to Princess (because no two stories were the same), our best guess is that the ship is delayed for mechanical problems and that it will be arriving around 10am.

We are in a hotel in San Pedro, and trying to figure out our plan for tomorrow. We anticipate that the port will be a zoo, but the question is do we go over early (say 10am) and give or luggge to the porters then return at around 2pm to do check-in. This might save us some of the aggravation of totall chaos with both luggage and chec-in, and given our delayed start, we want to get onboard as early as possible.

What would you do? Thanks!

I'd wait and head to the pier at noon or later. If the ship isn't getting in to port until 10 a.m. then Princess will need time to disembark the passengers and turn the ship around before boarding will begin.

I have been to the pier in San Pedro and if I remember correctly. Just down the street from where the cruise ship dock is a commerical pier with shopping, places to eat and things to see. I would drop luggage off and head over there to spend a couple of hours.
At least then you are there and can while away your time over a drink or a nice meal.
There was this one place where you could buy a nice red snapper and then they would grill if for you right there. Talk about good eats..

Thats my 2 cents worth anyways.

We were on Diamond last week. Go to the pier early - we got there at 11:15 for a noon embarkation. Check your bags and then go inside and get a number. They board by number. Depending on your number stay and wait or go to the pier and shop. We stayed at the Sheraton and walked to that pier - it's nice. By the way, we had #517 and they called for elite, handicapped and people who had booked a full suite to board right at noon. Then they started calling numbers and we were on the ship by 12:20. Very efficient. Hope you have a great time!
