Help from Carnival Gurus

Hello everyone,

This will be my first post.

The last time me and my wife went on a cruise was back in October of 2004...Carnival Pride from Long Beach...we did the Mexican Riveria.

Well 5 years later we are looking to take another cruise next month...we would like to do the Caribbean and would like some advice.

We liked the Pride but felt it lacked in size and things to do...can someone recommend a good ship leaving Oct 10 2009.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

We do you live Manny? This would narrow down the cruises to suggest.

Manny,

Fly to Houston, TX. Carnival Conquest departs Galveston, TX (1:10 min south of George Bush Int Airport Houston) Oct 11, 2009 for 7 day Caribbean. . .
DAY DATE PORT ARRIVE DEPART
Sun Oct 11 Galveston, TX 4:00pm
Mon Oct 12 At Sea
Tue Oct 13 At Sea
Wed Oct 14 Montego Bay, Jamaica 9:00am 6:00pm
Thu Oct 15 Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands 7:00am 4:00pm
Fri Oct 16 Cozumel, Mexico 10:00am 6:00pm

Check with your TA or who ever you use. We have done the Conquest 3 times in the last 12 months. Good times and good ship.

The Conquest itinerary is a good one. I love the Western Caribbean.

My favorite is either Carnival Lagend From Tampa or Carnival Valor from Miami. Both visit the same ports. Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Roatan and Belize. That's an awesome trip.

If Oct 10 is cast in stone, the Conquest is not an option as she sails on the 11th. I can only find two available 7 day Carnival cruises that sail on the 10th; the Glory out of Port Canaveral, and the Liberty out of Miami. Both are Conquest Class ships and I have sailed on both. I also have had great experiences on both. The Glory itinerary includes Nassau, St Thomas and St Maarten, while the Liberty goes to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Ocho Rios. Your best option however, IMHO, is an 8 day departing FLL 10/10/09 with ports of call San Juan, St Thomas, Antigua, Tortola and Nassau. The ship is the Carnival Freedom. Best of luck on whatever you decide!

Don't your arms get tired?

Well, I don't see anything in your post that says you have to be on a Carnival ship. So here are my recommendations ...

Cruise line: Norwegian Ship name: Norwegian Pearl
Ports of call: Miami, Florida; Samana, Dominican Republic; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas; Miami, Florida 2009 departures: October 10,
The Pearl has pools and water slide just like the Pride, but also has a rock wall and a bowling alley.

Cruise line: Carnival Ship name: Carnival Liberty
Ports of call: Miami, Florida; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; Miami, Florida 2009 departures: October 10, The Carnival Liberty has pools and a water slide just like the Pride, but is about 25% bigger and also has a really big TV screen over one of the pools.

Cruise line: Carnival Ship name: Carnival Freedom
Ports of call: Fort Lauderdale, Florida; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; Nassau, Bahamas; Fort Lauderdale, Florida 2009 departures: October 10
The Carnival Freedom is similar to the Carnival Liberty.

Cruise line: Carnival Ship name: Carnival Glory
Ports of call: Cape Canaveral, Florida; Nassau, Bahamas; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; St. Martin - Sint Maarten (island); Cape Canaveral, Florida 2009 departures: October 10,
The Carnival Glory is similar to the Carnival Liberty.

Cruise line: Royal Caribbean Ship name: Liberty of the Seas
Ports of call: Miami, Florida; Philipsburg, Netherlands Antilles; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Labadee, Haiti; Miami, Florida 2009 departures: October 10
The Liberty of the Seas is currently tied for the title of the biggest cruise ship. I has pools but no water slide. It has a rock wall, an ice skating rink and a Flowrider (a surfing simulator).

That pretty much covers the active ships going to the Caribbean on October 10, 2009.
