Can anyone suggest  nice quieter beach in Ft. Lauderdale where we can spend the day.  We have a long time to wait for our early evening flight.  Would need showers to rinse off etc.  Would we be better off spending the day at a hotel and paying a day pass?  Would they hold our luggage?  Do we need to rent a car or can we take a taxi to the beach and then later to the airport.  Which is more economical?

Please give me lots of details.  Thanks so much
